April Ross
April Ross has won more than one Olympic gold medal. She is one of only a handful of women beach volleyball athletes who have done so. Alix Klineman is a new Olympian who will be joining her in Tokyo. Ross's dream is to earn her first Olympic gold medal. With her age of 39, this may be Ross' last chance to win an Olympic gold. But she's confident top awards can be achieved. Ross stated via NBC Boston: "If we do our best and even playing well I'm sure we'll win the gold medal." Also, I am going be relying on a little bit of good luck. Ross is born in the year 1982. Costa Mesa California where she lived with her parents as well as a her sister. The athletic pursuits she pursued was continued by Newport Harbor High School where she played in a variety of different sports. Apart from indoor volleyball, she ran track and basketball as a pre-collegiate athlete. She stood out however in this sport. In her college profile, she was an outside hitter, middle blocker and setter throughout her volleyball time in high school. Her efforts were recognized by her being named 1999 Gatorade's Circle Of Champions National Players of the Year. The year 2000 was the time she won the Orange County Athlete of the year award for volleyball. Ross and Klineman formed their partnership in 2017, However, Ross was a beach scene celebrity for a long time prior to. In fact, she's had the chance to win numerous tournaments, including one with an iconic volleyball player. Jennifer Kessy was her partner for six years, between 2007 and the year 2013. Also, she coached Klineman and herself. Together, Kessy Ross was an ace on the international stage, claiming a world title in 2009. They were awarded a silver medal during the 2012 Olympic Games held in London. Misty Maytreanor (Jennings) and Misty Maytreanor clinched gold overtaking them. Ross Jennings replaced May-Treanor when she retired. The team won bronze in beach volleyball at Rio Olympics 2016. After high school and years before she hit the beach as a professional Ross was a ball with the Trojans of USC as an collegiate. Her time at USC was impressive. When she was a freshman at the school in 2000 she played her way to Pac-10 and NCAA The Freshman of the Year honors and earned an All-American. In 2000, her Trojans made it to the Final Four. Her sophomore year was the time she suffered a tremendous personal loss but still managed to be a second All-American. In her last two seasons in the program she led the Trojans towards the summit of the mountain winning successive national titles. Ross was an excellent volleyball player, winning the Honda Sports Award in 2003-04 as the top female volleyball player in the NCAA. Ross was a student of International Relations at USC. Margie Ross was not able to witness Ross achieve beach volleyball's top stage. Ross's mother passed away from cancer of the breast when she was a sophomore at USC. But she still keeps her parent close to the heart. Margie has always been a source of inspiration for her, both on and off the beach.
